Kena Beach Hotel, located just outside the village of Matemwe, is a locally owned hotel on the shore of beautiful Zanzibar. The owners, a Tanzanian family, purchased the hotel in January 2018 with the vision of bringing the hotel back to its original splendor & putting the soul of Africa back into it’s day-to-day operations. As owners, born and raised in Tanzania, they appreciate the history and magic of the Spice Island and it’s people and guests who visit the shores. Choosing the name ‘Kena’ holds significant value. It’s meaning exemplifies ‘family’ from the roots of the name to the ‘Kena Experience’ provided to guests with each letter represents the first name initials of the owner’s parents.
